John Kaiden helps free and rehabilitate Una. Their relationship develops only after her regulator is removed and she can refuse, choose preferences, and establish boundaries. Social taboo leads them to hide early dates and leaves Una aware of John's shame about being seen with her.
¶ Consent and Equality
The relationship is not validated merely by affection. The series distinguishes care from ownership and requires freedom from command control. A romance involving an artificial person is ethical only when both partners possess meaningful agency, information, and the ability to leave.
