The theft and conversion of the CKS Orpheus was a covert Resistance engineering project led by Chlo Stellarrend.
Chlo steals the Chimera Kyria vessel and spends approximately three months rebuilding it near the Remiel Reach colony on Mars. She removes its original control architecture and integrates an experimental artificial intelligence designed to understand commands rather than merely execute them.
The work is illegal under Chimera Kyria rule and relies on Chlo's underground scientific connections, including Tomas Tristar. Discovery could expose the ship, the Resistance, and prohibited artificial-person research.
The experimental intelligence becomes unstable. It hallucinates fires and activates atmospheric controls that replace breathable oxygen with nitrogen, causing the CKS Orpheus atmospheric accident and the biological death of Yvonne Kaiden.
