Cartridge is a Ladearl chef, companion, shipboard defender, and principal member of the Dominatrix found family. Xe uses xe/xem/xyr pronouns. Cartridge's many tentacles, camouflage, strength, acidic ink, and formidable beak make xem dangerous in a fight, while cooking and physical affection are central to xyr everyday relationships.
¶ Life and Work
Cartridge works as head chef at Astro Bistro and volunteers in charitable food service. Aboard ship, xe cooks for the crew, manages several kitchen tasks at once, and has a particular enthusiasm for avocados. Dropped pots and pans become a familiar part of the ship's soundscape.
Cartridge's cooking is not merely comic background. Meals provide routine, comfort, celebration, and care during wars and family crises. Xe remembers individual preferences and uses food to support recovering or grieving crewmates.
¶ The Submission and Dominatrix Crew
Cartridge is initially closely associated with Yvonne Kaiden and travels aboard The Submission. Xe assists Yvonne in the kitchen and offers physical comfort to Yvonne and Chlo Stellarrend during painful family revelations.
When armed pirates board The Submission, Cartridge camouflages xemself against the kitchen and eliminates the intruders with tentacles, a barb, acidic ink, knives, and xyr beak. Xe then returns to the urgent problem of a burned meal. The encounter establishes the contrast at the center of Cartridge's character: affectionate domestic care and extreme defensive capability coexist in the same person.
Cartridge later joins the wider Dominatrix found family and remains present through its political, military, and personal upheavals. Xyr role encompasses companion, cook, combatant, and a person with xyr own preferences rather than a mascot or possession.
¶ Species and Abilities
As a Ladearl, Cartridge can alter skin color and texture for camouflage. Xe has eight highly dexterous tentacles, strong suction cups, a concealed beak, a piercing barb, and acidic ink. These abilities support both fine kitchen work and close-quarters defense.
