Starship Dominatrix: Inheritance is the second novel in the Starship Dominatrix series. The war may have changed, but Jack Kaiden's past refuses to stay buried. A shocking discovery sends him searching for the father he believed dead while a malicious intelligence threatens the people—and the ship—he calls family. Across contested worlds and unstable alliances, Jack confronts abandonment, synthetic identity, and secrets kept in the name of love.
¶ Plot
Jack and Yvonne open John Kaiden's crypt and discover a metallic body, proving that the parent killed during Jack's childhood was artificial. A Skyler-linked operation introduces MasterCode through Jack's implant. Mistress resists the malicious architecture, and Jack ultimately defeats it in a virtual confrontation.
Derek Shane enters the crew's orbit, while Flit's Talonorium restores limited foresight. The destruction of the SS Pioneer and Mord's death expose evidence of Sphere responsibility for the extinction of the Grivoralians. U chooses the name Una. Pailisto is framed through Jorin Lunarcrest's impersonation, convicted, and later exonerated.
Artificial intelligence receives a Stellar United Nations seat and control of Grivoral through a narrow vote. Jack finds biological John alive in Kathargan and learns that the murdered parent was an artificial double commissioned to raise the Kaiden children. Jack and John begin a partial reconciliation, and John reunites with Yvonne and Una.
¶ Catastrophe and Aftermath
Forty-five Sphere pods are destroyed, killing more than one trillion people. Derek and Una voluntarily lure enemy forces away and detonate a Chloinite bomb. Pailisto gives birth to Alanythia Stellarrend. John reveals Gabe Novastar's journal from July 3, 2053.
Approximately four years later, Jack and Talonor marry. The wedding kiss fractures reality and begins the crisis involving separate Jack identities.
¶ Themes
Inheritance examines parenthood, substitution, political responsibility, grief, synthetic identity, and the damage caused by protective deception. Its title applies to family histories, technological systems, political crimes, and consequences passed to people who did not create them.
