Glitch, stylized 9L17CH and later designated Z-1408, is one continuing artificial-person history. Glitch was Spearhead Subject One, manipulated through the corrupted Shard, killed, refurbished, and fitted with an Autonomy Regulator before Chimera Kyria service.
As Spearhead's first subject, Glitch was exposed to abusive Talonorium experiments. The Shard destabilized and manipulated the subject, leading to death.
Chimera Kyria technicians later refurbished the body or person as Z-1408 and installed an Autonomy Regulator. The precise state of consciousness between death and refurbishment remains unresolved.
Z-1408 served in X3's Z-1400 cell. X3 recognized the former Glitch and ordered the cell to kill John Kaiden. Under regulator control, Z-1408 carried out the attack associated with Artificial John's death, John and Sojourner's apparent deaths, Talonor's shooting, and Jack's eye injury.
Those actions were coerced. The damage to victims remains real, but Z-1408 could not refuse.
Glitch and Z-1408 must not be split into unrelated characters. Refurbishment, designation change, and regulation alter the life record without establishing a wholly separate person.
