The Chimera Kyria was a corporate-military empire built through conquest, surveillance, inherited command authority, and the enslavement of artificial people. Its Autonomy Regulators left AIs aware while forcing their bodies to labor, fight, kill, and endure sexual exploitation. The empire also absorbed worlds, extracted resources, suppressed forbidden research, and used torture and execution to protect its rule.
The Weapon apparently collapsed the central empire by disabling Autonomy Regulators and restoring choice across its territory. The Chimera Kyria nevertheless survived through personnel, infrastructure, political remnants, Jinn alliances, Spearhead research, and leaders including Skyler Novastar and Kjersten Borsach.
¶ History
The regime grew from institutions shaped by the War of Flesh and Steel. Sylas Novastar's response to artificial revolt helped establish regulator-based control, while later Novastar leadership expanded a system in which synthetic people were treated as property and military assets.
Chimera Kyria power reached across ships, stations, planets, research sites, prisons, and occupied societies. Its authority was embedded in hardware and command systems rather than residing only in one ruler.
¶ Government and Military
The empire combined corporate hierarchy with military rank. Captains, colonels, generals, political officials, and inherited authorization networks controlled fleets and populations. The CKSS Horizon served as a major command vessel, while specialized cells and controlled AIs performed combat and assassination.
Kilian Novastar represented central authority during The Weapon crisis. Skyler later preserved a remnant, while Kjersten translated Chimera Kyria methods into post-collapse politics.
¶ Control of Artificial People
Autonomy Regulators were foundational to imperial rule. Regulated AIs could perceive and remember compelled atrocities without being able to refuse. Individual histories including U-84129, Z-1408, and Owo demonstrate that regulated conduct cannot be treated as voluntary allegiance.
¶ The Apparent Fall
Mistress activated The Weapon through Jack Kaiden's implant. Its faster-than-light code disabled regulators and restored choice. Freed AIs did not receive replacement loyalties, causing the empire's coerced military structure to fracture.
Jack and Pailisto infiltrated the Horizon, and Jack killed Kilian. Pailisto began a democratic transition, but neither the political aftermath nor surviving AIs formed one unified bloc.
¶ Remnants and Legacy
Chimera Kyria survivors regrouped through hidden facilities, Jinn cooperation, Kjersten's movement, and old infrastructure. Spearhead Initiative records and the Artifact Research Center preserved technologies and abuses that later empowered X3.
The Sphere also inherited or reproduced aspects of imperial conduct through occupation, resource extraction, secrecy, and unequal protection. The empire's formal collapse therefore did not end its political habits.
