Vengeance is a recurring moral problem in the Starship Dominatrix canon. Characters repeatedly question whether violent retaliation can become justice merely because the target has caused real harm.
The distinction matters most when grief supplies a righteous explanation for killing. Una and other characters recognize that punishment described as justice may still be vengeance when it is driven principally by pain and produces another body count.
The canon does not treat every use of force as equivalent. Defense, liberation, accountability, and revenge can overlap without becoming interchangeable. Calling an act vengeance therefore identifies its motive and moral danger rather than automatically resolving whether the act was necessary.
