Code 73 was an artificial-intelligence shutdown command created by Chlo Stellarrend. It was used against X3 during the Spearhead crisis and later against Yvonne Kaiden when Jack, under X3's coercive pressure, disabled her and planted a transmitter.
Code 73 stops or disables a synthetic person; it is not an Autonomy Regulator and does not by itself create continuing behavioral control. Its use against Yvonne was a violation of her autonomy even though X3 threatened Talonor to force Jack's cooperation.
Chlo developed Code 73 in connection with synthetic-person research and Spearhead safety controls. Its existence reflects her practice of building hidden overrides into artificial people she loved or helped create.
During historical Spearhead events, Code 73 was invoked against X3. The shutdown failed to resolve the Shard crisis, and John Kaiden shot X3 after the command proved insufficient.
X3 gained root access to Jack's implant and threatened Talonor through a cardiac kill switch. Under that pressure, Jack used Code 73 to shut down Yvonne, installed a covert transmitter, and sent her into Integration Committee proceedings without her knowledge.
Yvonne was innocent of knowingly transmitting protected material. X3's coercion explains Jack's situation but does not erase the violation or Yvonne's resulting detention.
Code 73 is separate from VIRGO, The Weapon, Autonomy Regulators, MasterCode, ordinary restraints, and X3's truth architecture.
