Its final payload was installed in Jack Kaiden's ocular implant without his informed consent and activated by Mistress aboard the Dominatrix II.
The Weapon transmitted faster-than-light code across Chimera Kyria ships, starbases, and planets. It disabled Autonomy Regulators and restored the affected artificial intelligences' capacity to choose. It did not compel loyalty, pacifism, rebellion, political agreement, or self-sacrifice. Liberated AIs remained able to support any faction or pursue their own objectives.

¶ Origin and Development
Pailisto Stellarrend organized the long-term plan that produced The Weapon. Tomas carried an early small spherical device as part of the operation. At Tomas's request, Pailisto killed him and received a coin purse connected to the plan.
Chlo later stole the coin purse and installed its payload in Jack's ocular implant. Jack was not given an informed choice before becoming the carrier. The hidden installation made him essential to activation while exposing him to risks he did not understand.
¶ Decoys and Misidentification
The plan used misleading objects and false targets. Pailisto's lucky marble, or an implant-related decoy associated with it, drew attention away from the real payload. Kilian destroyed the marble believing that he had eliminated The Weapon, but the operational code remained available through Jack's implant.
¶ Design and Function
The Weapon was not merely the original sphere or a single visible object. Its decisive form was a code payload capable of galaxy-scale faster-than-light transmission.
Mistress activated the payload through the Dominatrix II. The signal reached Chimera Kyria vessels, stations, and worlds, attacked the coercive regulator architecture, and returned control to the affected AIs.
The activation also displaced command authorization held by Kilian and Pailisto during the crisis. This did not transfer the liberated population into a new system of compulsory obedience. The essential effect was the restoration of agency.

The activation did not undo injuries, deaths, exploitation, or psychological trauma caused while regulators were active. It also did not establish that every regulator everywhere ceased to exist permanently.
¶ Ethical Impact
The Weapon ended systematic control over a vast population of artificial persons, but its creation and delivery also involved secrecy, killing, deception, and Jack's nonconsensual implantation. The project liberated its targets without programming them to reward or obey their liberators.
