Tyrael Galen is a Betbrotuy and a former criminal associate of Kroven Vaskyr, Vorath Vaskyr, and Derek Shane.
During the group's attempt to steal the Aegis of Zeus from the Artifact Research Center, security officers catch and beat Kroven. Tyrael returns to help him, incapacitates the guards, and makes Kroven's escape possible. Tyrael is arrested and remains imprisoned while the others leave.
Years later, Kroven unexpectedly finds Tyrael in Pod 666. Tyrael has survived prolonged abuse and torture. Their reunion is openly affectionate and sexual. Kroven tells him that Derek has died, records Tyrael's prison number, and promises to remain in contact before continuing the mission.
