Simon is a Voidborn survivor and participant in the Unchosen movement. Along with James and other Voidborn who survive outside the destroyed fleet, he demonstrates the continuation of Voidborn identity and religious life after the war with X3.
¶ Faith and Conduct
Simon and James play cards aboard Dominatrix II with Kroven Vaskyr and Cygnus Jun. Simon repeatedly folds, even surrendering a full house. When questioned, he explains that members of his faith do not take from people who have less and instead yield what they might otherwise win.
The scene presents Simon's restraint as a chosen ethical practice. His conduct expresses how the Voidborn interpret the Unchosen's strength: not as permission to dominate, but as a reason to avoid exploiting weaker people.
