The Aegis of Zeus heist is a failed theft carried out by Kroven Vaskyr, Vorath Vaskyr, Derek Shane, and Tyrael Galen approximately seven years before Kroven reveals it to Jack.
The group enters the Artifact Research Center in The Sphere to steal the Aegis of Zeus. Security catches and severely beats Kroven. Tyrael returns to help him escape, incapacitates the guards, and is arrested in the process.
Kroven leaves without the artifact, carrying injuries that lead to chronic pain and pain-pill addiction. Tyrael remains imprisoned and is later found in Pod 666.
