Old Jack was a future or alternate instance of Jack Kaiden who became trapped with the Dominatrix inside a temporal anomaly. After the crew died and the ship's life-support resources failed, he survived alone with Old Mistress. Future Talonor explicitly offered his body as food; Old Jack ate him only after every other source of nutrition was exhausted. The experience left Old Jack severely traumatized but did not make him a murderer or predator.
When the younger Dominatrix entered the anomaly, Old Jack helped the crew escape by using his ship as a first-stage booster. He spent a final day with them, received Talonor's forgiveness, and shared a kiss that changed the future. Old Jack then detonated the Chloinite aboard his Dominatrix, killing himself, destroying the trapped Chimera Kyria fleet, and collapsing the anomaly.
Old Jack's memories later became part of New Jack's identity during the wedding fracture. His precise temporal status remains unresolved: he may represent an erased future, a surviving branch, a parallel counterpart, or another temporal configuration.
Old Jack is the Jack Tomas Kaiden from the catastrophic survival timeline inside the temporal anomaly. He is distinct from Present-Day Jack, New Jack, and the later continuing Jack.
Old Jack originated from a timeline in which the Dominatrix crew became trapped inside a temporal anomaly whose interior was approximately one light-year across. Time was nonlinear, the ship could not escape normally, and supplies steadily failed.
The crew died one by one. Future Kroven intentionally overdosed rather than endure withdrawal. Future Andryanos hanged himself to preserve food. Future Pailisto shot himself for the same reason. Future Talonor remained with Jack until the end and explicitly offered his body as food if Jack needed it.
Old Jack exhausted the ship's ordinary food. He consumed Talonor only as a final survival measure and carried lasting horror, shame, and grief over the act. He preserved Talonor's body in a freezer and remained beside it while drinking and researching the anomaly.
Old Mistress was Old Jack's sole surviving companion. Integrated into the future Dominatrix, she monitored sensors, operated ship systems, played music, and addressed him as Slave. Their relationship combined command, companionship, dominant/submissive language, and affection developed through prolonged isolation.
Old Jack transmitted a distress signal capable of reaching the younger Dominatrix through nonlinear time. Pailisto recognized the future timestamp and ordered a rescue attempt.
The younger crew found Old Jack battle-worn, emaciated, intoxicated, and psychologically devastated. He supplied technical research, rare materials, and a mass-adjusting device needed for escape. His Dominatrix would serve as a booster for the younger ship.
Old Jack intended to die immediately after launching the younger crew, but Pailisto insisted that he spend one final day with them. The crew supplied oxygen, water, food, toiletries, a MOXIE apparatus, and three days of provisions in case rescue remained possible.
Talonor learned what his future counterpart had done and initially reacted with horror. He nevertheless told Old Jack that desperate survival did not define his whole identity. Talonor affirmed love, offered physical comfort, and consented to a final kiss. The kiss was described as Talonor's first and created a future Andryanos had never foreseen.
Old Jack launched the younger Dominatrix using the combined engines and reduced apparent mass. After the escape, he ordered Old Mistress to play Unchained Melody and armed the Chloinite self-destruct.
The explosion killed Old Jack, destroyed the Old Dominatrix, eliminated 10,972 Chimera Kyria crew members, 832 captains, sixteen colonels, and one general, and collapsed the anomaly into a singularity. His final words expressed love for Talonor. The resulting phenomenon became known as Old Jack's Star.
Four years after Talonor proposed to Present-Day Jack, their vow-sealing kiss fractured reality. One duplicate of Present-Day Jack was placed into Old Jack's body at the moment before the Chloinite detonation and received approximately five months of Old Jack's memories. Moonshade named that configuration New Jack.
Old Jack's original life and New Jack's later use of his body are connected but not interchangeable. Old Jack had already lived the catastrophic timeline; New Jack inherited much of it without becoming retroactively responsible for every act.
Old Jack shared Jack Kaiden's human body, ocular implant, engineering knowledge, combat experience, and personality history, aged and damaged by the anomaly. Starvation, dehydration, alcohol use, grief, and isolation left him physically and psychologically deteriorated.
He remained resourceful enough to study the anomaly and construct the escape plan. His shame made him see himself as monstrous, while Talonor and Pailisto argued that one desperate act did not erase his love, loyalty, and effort to save others.
Future Talonor was Old Jack's husband or partner and final biological companion. His voluntary offer of his body made Old Jack's survival possible. The younger Talonor later forgave Old Jack and changed the future through their kiss.
Old Mistress was Old Jack's companion, ship intelligence, and final witness. She remained aboard during his sacrifice and carried out the self-destruct order.
Pailisto approved the sacrifice only after insisting upon a final day and attempting to preserve a possibility of rescue. He later carried guilt over leaving Old Jack behind.
